Bucky came to us after being found outside.  He was suffering from starvation, fleas, ticks and several bot fly larvae under his skin.  One eye developed an abscess and has some scar tissue, but he has some vision in it, and it doesn't bother him at all.  This boy is such a love!  He loves people and petting and comes running for attention and treats.

Tinkerbelle is a darling!  She was purchased at a pet store by a college student, then dumped outside to fend for herself.  A roommate found Tink near by and took care of her till releasing her to us.  She runs to you for petting, and seems happy to be held and cuddled.  She is a minirex, and will remain about 3 pounds.

Thumper came from a loving home, but her owner became so allergic that she couldn't be in the same room with her.  She is age 3, friendly and good in her litter box.  She's been alone a lot, so we'd love to find her a home where she gets lots of attention and maybe a nice boyfriend.

“Alvin is a young little guy, about 9 months old , but very well behaved and loving with good litter box habits .  He was rescued outside in Wills Park hiding in the brambles and living with the horses.  Alvin is very attentive and enjoys people and even being held and loved on . He is also adventurous and enjoys the cats at his foster home . Alvin is a little fella, but promises a lot of big love to his forever home.  He would be good with a family or even being bonded with a friend“.

Zack

Zack came in with his brothers, Cody and Mitch. They were abandoned at a pet store, who put all three in a tiny aquarium cage.  As you can imagine, they were miserable and not getting along in such close quarters.   They are young, lively and full of energy, and can jump out of their pens.   Zach will need good supervision and a very safe place to play  - just like an active child.  Adopting a young rabbit takes some patience and understanding as they grow through adolescence, but they are always always entertaining!

Mitch

Most likely a brother to Zack and Cody, he is a young bunny with lots of play in him.  He likes to play on top of his box as much as he likes to play underneath it.  Once neutered, we expect these 3 boys to have a much easier time learning to use their litter boxes.  They are beautiful rabbits and so very hard to resist falling in love with.

Clover

This friendly boy was found running in a neighborhood with Shamrock.  Turns out that they were abandoned by the owner, and then his friend, who didn’t want to feed them anymore, so he turned them outside.  They were discovered eating marigolds, and were easily caught and happy to come inside!  Both like attention and are easy to handle.

Pumpkin

Meet Pumpkin.  She was rescued from a shelter on Halloween, and has recently been featured in several pictures at the new Rabbit Center.  She is loving and definitely wants attention and pets, so don't adopt her unless you plan to spend lots of time with her.   Her litter box habits are excellent now that she has been spayed.  She is definitely a one ear up-one ear down girl, and we think that makes her irresistible!!  You may see her do a big flop over on her side - not to worry -  she' just ready for a good nap.

TRIAL BONDING

Suzie Q

This sweet girl was noticed by one of our adopters at a neighbors house.  She was alone, neglected and starving to death.  Her siblings had died, and she was the only survivor.  Down to skin and bones when we accepted her, she only had enough energy to eat and rest.  After a couple weeks of that, she started to take an interest in her surroundings, and is now begging to get out for play time and attention.  Her personality is more quiet, but she isn't shy or fearful, and she is happy to sit with you for pets and love.  Suzie Q is a rex, only a couple years old, and deserves the very best kind and loving forever home.

Wilson

Wilson will reward you with binkys when he gets out for play time.  He is a handsome dutch boy, and was found in a complex hanging around the tennis courts, accepting lettuce and carrots from one of the residents.  He is a young bunny and excellent in his litter box.  He is a bit shy at first, but he likes petting, so you just have to have a little patience until he figures out that you are trustworthy and a good petter!

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is back.  She had been adopted by a caring family, but the teenage girl got too busy for her, and they decided they could not honor their commitment and returned her to us.  Elizabeth has a very sweet personality.  She stands up at the edge of her pen looking for someone to pet her.  She is still only a couple years old, and has very good litter box habits.  She loves little girls, and is willing to be held as long as she feels safe and secure.  She has been accustomed to life with a family, and we know that she is really anxious to find someone to love her and take her home.

Eeyore

Eeyore is an English Lop, about a year old and already weighs over 12 pounds.  He most likely will continue to grow a few more months!!  And OMG – he is one sweet bun, with the personality of the cartoon character – sort of a – “Oh well, I know I am big but that’s ok – I will make a great pet anyway.  I just hope someone will love me”  And what can we say about the ears – all the better to hear you with my dear!  He is beautiful, sweet and will sit for pets for hours – hates to be picked up but you would too if you had been mishandled as much as he has – he was dumped at Cherokee Animal Shelter by a family that just said he was too hard to handle.  The thought that this beautiful boy could have been PTS gives us nightmares – fortunately we had room and he will find a wonderful home – he is so gentle that even if you have a small bunny girl – he will most likely bond with her.

TRIAL BONDING

Ellie and Hopper

What a darling couple.  Ellie is the big girl and Hopper is just a little boy, kind of a switch but it works very well for them.  They are probably the most bonded couple we have seen in a long time and just really love each other – they are a joy to watch.  Of course, it looks a little like a mom with her baby but that does not bother them!!  Hopper is about 3 years old and Ellie is about 2 – they are ready for a new home as their last on was lost due to divorce and foreclosure.

Jack and Moody:

Jack and Moody are with us due to the sad break up of their home.  They were very loved and well-cared for but now things have changed and they must find a new family who will cherish them.  They are a lovely couple who love each other and are very friendly.  Jack is very outgoing and loves attention and even to be picked up.  Moody, well, she is a little on the shyer side but has blossomed lately – she really is a sweet little girl and we think needs a better name!!!  They both are about 2 years old, excellent in their litter box and ready to love their new family!

Bugs and Carly

Meet Bugs and Carly.  Bugs was abandoned outside a vet office when the family lost their home and didn't know what else to do with their beloved bun.  He is a gentle and loving rabbit with silky fur and a sweet disposition.  Carly was given to a child who lost interest in her, and was living at the same vet office, and the two were paired up and have been great friends ever since.  Carly is the dominant one of the two, and has a bit more rabbitude than Bugs, but she is also just a youngster, and he is patient with her.  Carly is under a year old, and Bugs is 1 1/2.  They sure did have a big time playing in the pillows during the photo session!

Stephanie

When Stephanie was just a tiny baby – 8 to 12 weeks old , she was let go in a neighborhood.  Fortunately,  two great HRS adopters live there and the minute she was spotted a rescue effort was put in place.  They did have to chase a bit but she was no match for this determined crew.  Stephanie is a sweetheart of a bun – we thought she would grow into a big English Spot, but she is staying small.  She is very cute and active – has been known to leap over tall fences!!  She does enjoy lots of attention and pets – she would just love a little boy bunny friend.

Tammy and Britt

Tammy and Britt were first found as youngsters, in a hallway, about to be put out with the trash.  They were accepted by us, and adopted into a home for a few months, and then returned because the 5 year old lost interest - duh!!!  We want them to go into a home where the whole family is involved in loving on these beautiful rabbits.  Britt (dark brown) is just a bit shy, but eager to come for treats and to see what's going on.  Tammy (white with black spots) does happy binkies and ear tosses that will leave a silly grin on your face.

Jewels

Jewels was one of several baby rabbits that were let go in a ravine in Marietta – Jewels and Black Jack were rescued by a young couple that were unable to continue to care for them.  Jewels and Black Jack did not bond and became available as singles – Jewels is a beautiful Californian breed bun with rabbittude – she is not shy and will warms up fast to you as she gets to know you.  She is about a year and a half old and ready for her forever home – she would like another friend – just not Black Jack..  She is about 8 pounds and her markings are now a dark and velvety brown – she is one beautiful rabbit!

Laffy and Crystal

These beautiful girls are 9 months old.  They came from the Missouri House Rabbit Society where they were part of a confiscation of over 125 White New Zealand Rabbits.  They are called the Stone County Bunnies.  They were going to be sold for fur and meat, till the breeder decided the price was to low, and just quit taking care of them.  WNZ rabbits have a reputation for being the most social and people friendly rabbits out there.  They have wonderful temperaments and are great family rabbits.  PLEASE don't pass them up because of their beautiful rose colored eyes.  Anyone who has ever had a WNZ, will tell you that they are the best pet they ever had.

Felicia and Oscar

Felicia was single and been through a lot.  Oscar became single after a long time bonded to Felix and low and behold – he found love with Felicia (do you think he just liked the name!) – no wonder he did not get along well with Felix!!!!  Felicia is the love of his life and he has blossomed with her.  And from the looks of this picture – she is totally relaxed with him!!!  Felicia was found outside by a family and they just could not keep her – Oscar was a Reno rabbit , one of thousands rescued from a backyard.  Both have now found love at the shelter and would love a new forever home – they are a wonderful couple and both are very tidy!  Another reason Oscar was glad to be rid of Felix!  Felicia is about a year and a half old and Oscar is about four.

Ben

Ben used to live with Oola and Lucy, but 3 was a croud, and Ben became single again. He is about 10 lbs. and a shy boy but now comes up for treats. He is very neat in his cage.  As soon as his door is open for him, he is out exploring - loves to run around and visit.  Very smart too - can open some of the pen doors and even get back in!  He is probably about 4 yrs old, and will appreciate a loving secure home.

Smudge and Dutchy

Dutchy is probably about 3 yrs old now.  She was a HRS rescue, and  Smudge came from rescue in Nashville. Smudge is very shy, but will come up for treats.  Dutchy is a little more outgoing, and both are very good in their litter box.  They will do best with adults, or a quieter home.

Benning and Feather

Benning and Feather were adopted last year to a couple whose relationship did not last and were unable to meet their needs.  We are glad to put these two cuties back up for adoption in hopes that being adopted during the “month of love” will be much luckier for them!   This sweet couple fell in love at the shelter – it was love at first site when Feather took one look at how handsome Benning is.  Benning was dumped at a shelter at Fort Benning and had an injured ear that looked as if it had been cut with scissors.  With Feather’s help, he healed nicely (although the ear remains split a bit.)  Feather was rescued from a hoarding situation that involved 80 cats – we are guessing that is why she is such a great groomer and Benning loves that!!!  She gets her name from the line down her back that looks like a feather – unfortunately she is not light as a feather any more and will need to take off a few ounces!!!

JB & Mini

JB had a rough start in life.  His first owner was an alcoholic, and he was left alone in a basement.  We took him in, but he was kindda down in the dumps till he met Mini, and went into his second home.  They were very happy until their teenage care-taker realized how much work they were and lost interest, so now there were two bunnies who became unwanted, and they came back to us.  These guys are beautiful rabbits,  and they really need someone to love them and give them a for-real forever home.

Taylor and Starbuck

Taylor is a big gray bunny with a big heart, and she is the more outgoing of the two buns.  She loves her little friend Starbuck, who is a bit more shy, and has the softest fur ever!  They have been in a loving foster home, but it's time they found their forever home.  Their original owner went on an extended trip, and returned them to HRS.  They are 3 years old, and would like to move in where they have lots of attention and get plenty of exercise!  Remember that bunnies can live for more than 10 years, so they are not old at all!    Please call us for more information about these two sweet bunnies.
