Rabbits should be kept indoors all year for health and safety reasons, but it is especially important to do so during the summer months. Rabbits do not tolerate heat well and can quickly die of heat stroke or dehydration. Summer is also the time when flies, ticks, fleas and other harmful disease-carrying pests are at their peak. Even rabbits who are kept indoors can succumb to fly strike if a fly gets in the house. Make sure that your rabbit is kept clean and dry and change their bedding or litter box frequently.
